A Softened Corner
Category: Furniture, Sculpture, Photography
Measures: 40 × 40 × 40 in
Mediums: MDF board, metal connector, flexible fabric
Year: 2024This piece explores my ambivalent relationship with corners—angular, rigid, and seemingly cold, yet quietly magnetic. Corners exert a gravitational pull in space, offering a sense of shelter despite their unwelcoming geometry. The work transforms this tension, softening angular harshness into a form of spatial embrace. It also reflects on the relationship between furniture and space, questioning how furniture reshapes spatial experience, how space receives objects, and how the two can operate together to produce comfort, intimacy, and presence.
